Samantha Morco

New York Web Developer

About Me

My name is Samantha Morco, but I go by Sami. I'm born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I relocated to New York in January 2017. I'm a full-stack web developer whose goal in life is to help people by creating amazing technology that will enhance the daily lives of everyone who uses it.

I attended UC Berkeley where I graduated with a bachelor's in integrative biology. During my time at Berkeley, I took a computer science course for non-majors where I learned Snap! and took a student-taught web design course and fell in love with coding. I decided to enroll in the immersive coding bootcamp Actualize and I've been involved with tech ever since.

Portfolio

Ruby on Rails, Javascript, jQuery, Vue.js, AngularJS

Also dabbled in Node.js, Express, React, and PHP.

Actualize

Currently I'm the lead instructor for the Actualize Coding Bootcamp. I teach an immersive web development course where students learn the fundamentals of developing with Ruby on Rails and Javascript.

Coshx

My first full-time developer job was at Coshx Labs, a full-stack design and development consultancy for startups and the enterprise. I worked in the San Francisco office, but headquarters is in Charlotesville, Virginia. While at Coshx, I worked on a variety of both internal and external projects. I primarily coded in Rails, Javascript, and jQuery, but some projects had me learning new technologies like React and PHP (for Wordpress development).

The Difference Engine

My very first apprenticeship was a short-term apprenticeship with the non-profit organization The Difference Engine. I built an API for Women Who Code that was to be used in conjunction with their web app.

Broke-Gamer.com

As a student of the Actualize bootcamp, I created an app that revolves around video game sales. It uses Best Buy’s API to list video games, which can be sorted by game system. Users can add deals and reviews to a game. The app also allows users to track video game deals through a wishlist. It is built on a Ruby on Rails MVC Framework and utilizes Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, and SQL.
